Pay and Conditions Tool: a free online resource

The Pay and Conditions Tool (PACT) is an online tool provided by the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO). The PACT helps employees and employers work out what employees need to be paid, what employees’ leave entitlements are, and the amount of notice employers and employees need to give when ending employment.

The PACT is the tool Fair Work Ombudsman Infoline advisers use to answer enquiries. It allows employers and employees calculate base pay rates and other entitlements, including:

  • penalties (e.g. weekend, early or late shifts and public holidays)
  • overtime
  • allowances
  • leave balances
  • notice period and redundancy pay.

The Pay and Conditions Tool is made up of four calculators:

  1. Pay Calculator: determines base pay rates, allowances and penalty rates (including overtime).
  2. Shift Calculator: determines the total shift payments for a time period you select.
  3. Leave Calculator: determines annual leave, annual leave loading, and sick and carer’s leave entitlements.
  4. Notice and Redundancy Calculator: determines the notice entitlements when employment ends, including the notice to be given and redundancy pay.

Employers have the legal obligation to operate within the framework of the Fair Work Act and the Common Law. Matters such as tax and pay, annual leave and time off for sickness, personal injury and carer’s responsibilities, and the rights of employees all fall under employment legislation and must be applied fairly to employees across your business.
